Argan Oil: Liquid Gold
The most iconic of all Moroccan beauty ingredients, argan oil is cold-pressed from the kernels of the argan tree, a species found almost exclusively in southwestern Morocco. Rich in vitamin E, essential fatty acids and antioxidants, it nourishes deeply, softens, and supports the skin barrier. Its light texture suits all skin types, delivering hydration without clogging pores. Argan appears in almost every BU Beauty formula, from the Cleansing Milk to the Hydrating Cream.
Prickly Pear Seed Oil: The Rarest Luxury
One of the most precious oils in the world, prickly pear seed oil is extracted from the seeds of the Barbary fig cactus, native to Morocco. It takes over a tonne of fruit to produce a single litre, which makes it rarer than argan. Exceptionally high in vitamin E and in betalains, powerful antioxidants, it helps soften the look of fine lines, brighten the complexion and restore radiance. You will find it in both our Radiance Day Serum and our Regenerating Night Serum.
White Clay: The Gentle Purifier
Clay has been used in Moroccan hammams for over a thousand years. We use white clay, also called kaolin, which is the gentlest of the cosmetic clays. Its mineral structure gives it real absorbent power: it draws out impurities and unclogs pores, but unlike stronger clays it does this without stripping the skin's natural moisture. It is the base of our White Clay Mask, where it works alongside argan oil and stable vitamin C.
Frankincense: The Quiet Classic
Prized across North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula for millennia, frankincense is one of the oldest ingredients in recorded beauty history. In skincare it is valued for its toning and comforting qualities. We use it in three formulas: the White Clay Mask, the Regenerating Night Serum and the Hydrating Cream.
Why Formulation Matters
Here is the part most brands skip. A heritage ingredient on its own is rarely enough. Raw argan oil is beautiful, but it will not soften fine lines by itself. Clay purifies, but it does not brighten.
